Privacy Policy
In short
Spend Today has no sign-up or account, and everything you enter is stored only on this device. Nothing is sent anywhere, including our own servers. No analytics, advertising or tracking tools are used.
Information stored on your device
Only what you enter or choose yourself is stored, in the app's private storage on this device.
- How you use it (Paycheck-based or Monthly budget) and your currency
- Paycheck-based: payday and pay schedule, monthly income, total monthly bills, monthly savings goal
- Monthly budget: budget start day and monthly budget
- The plan values of each period, what you'd already spent this period before using the app, and what you chose to do with leftover money when a period ended
- Spending and income entries, or budget top-ups in Monthly budget (date, amount, category you chose, note)
- Money you set aside for later (name, amount, date)
- Whether notifications are on and their times, and app state such as the date of your last backup
- Access information: whether you have lifetime access, when your free trial started, a transaction identifier, the date you first opened the app on this device, and device clock readings used to count the trial
We never ask for identifying information such as your name, phone number, email, bank account or card number.
What we don't collect or send
- Your records aren't sent anywhere, including our own servers. The app has no feature that sends your records off the device.
- No analytics, crash reporting or advertising tools, and no advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID). No tracking across other apps or websites.
- We don't ask for identifying information such as your name, phone number, email, bank account or card number.
- We don't sell your information or share it with third parties.
Device permissions
- Notifications: requested only when you choose to turn them on.
- Files: when you tap “Restore from a backup file”, the app reads only the file you pick in the system file picker.
- No access to your camera, photos, location, contacts or messages. No connection to banks or cards, and no reading of other apps' notifications.
If you don't allow a permission, the rest of the app still works. You can change permissions anytime in your device settings.
Notifications
Notifications are local and scheduled on your device. No push server or push token is used.
The morning notification may show today's amount, so it can appear on your lock screen. The evening notification comes once, only if nothing's logged that day. You can turn them off any time in Settings > Notifications.
In-app purchase and free trial
Buying and restoring lifetime access (Pro) is handled by the App Store or Google Play. We never receive or see payment details such as card numbers. Purchases are checked by the store on your device, and your entries are not used for this.
The 14-day free trial doesn't start when you first open the app. It starts on the day you tap “Try free for 14 days” on the purchase screen. On iPhone and iPad, the trial is a free App Store item, so its start date is the original date of that transaction; with the same Apple Account, it ends on the same day even after reinstalling or on another device. On Android, the date you tapped is stored only on this device.
The app keeps the store's result (whether you have lifetime access, when your free trial started, a transaction identifier) and the date you first opened the app on this device only. This isn't included in backup files and isn't removed by “Delete all data” or restoring a backup, so a purchase is never lost. It's removed when you delete the app; after reinstalling, “Restore purchases” checks with the store again. Payments and refunds follow each store's policy.
Exports and backup files
Only when you tap “Export history as CSV” or “Create a full backup file” does the app create a file in its temporary space and hand it to your device's share sheet; the temporary file is deleted as soon as sharing ends. When you restore from a backup file, the copy made in the app's temporary space is deleted after reading, and the original file you picked is left untouched.
You choose where the file is saved or sent, and from then on it follows the policies of the service you chose (Files app, cloud drive, email and so on). Backup files contain your full history unencrypted, so please keep them somewhere safe.
Retention and deletion
Everything is stored in the app's private storage on your device and stays there until you delete it or delete the app. We can neither see nor recover your information.
Settings > “Delete all data” removes your history, plan and set-aside money, along with any damaged entries kept aside, the temporary export and import files the app created, and the notifications this app scheduled. Your lifetime access and free trial information isn't removed. Deleting the app removes everything.
Android auto backup is turned off. If iCloud or computer backups are on for your iPhone, the operating system may include app data in those backups (they belong to your own account, and we can't access them).
Children
This app isn't directed at children. Because the app doesn't collect personal information, it doesn't collect children's personal information either.
Your rights
All information is on your device only, so you can view, edit and delete it yourself in the app. We don't hold your information, so there's nothing for us to provide or delete on request. For questions, contact us using the details below. You can also contact the data protection authority where you live.
